5 th HR Conclave at Oakbrook Business School “IQ, EQ and SQ for Employability”
Oakbrook Business School organized its 5 th HR Conclave on 23rd February 2017. It was the second conclave organized by “Harmony” – the HR club, a beautiful rangoli and decoration was done on the theme of the conclave. The objective of this conclave was to understand how Intelligence, emotional as well as spiritual quotient are necessary for a gainful employment.
The event started with a prayer invoking the blessings of the Almighty and simultaneous lightning of the lamp by all the dignitaries. Dr. Sourabhi Chaturvedi, Director of Oakbrook Business School, gave the welcome note. Dr. Chaturvedi explained the importance of this conclave to the students and how it would be helpful for them in placement as well as in their future workplace.
Dr Nivedita Shrivastava, an eminent HR and OD consultant and also a member Board of Directors OBS delved on the importance of emotional and spiritual quotient. She gave the example of a fellow student and emphasized the need of being emotionally stable. She said the emotional Quotient made a person more responsible and such persons were good leaders as well as great team players. Dr Shrivastava also acknowledged that the spiritual quotient and not religion was a pillar of strength for success at work place.
Next distinguished speaker of the day was Dr Samir Pingle who is Associate Professor and Area Chair for HR & OB. at Nirma University, He is also a National Council Member of ISTD ( India Society for Training & Development), Dr. Pingle started with interacting with students and also focused on various words used for decoration as per the theme. He reiterated that all the three quotients were necessary for work life balance which is now gaining greater importance.
The third speaker was Mr. Jigar Rana Managing Partner, Mrudang Management. He definitely left an indelible mark on the student’s minds through a lively presentation and engaging them through examples from various popular movies. In his infectious style he engaged the students and gave them tips to crack interviews and how to settle in the corporate world.
Ms. Anjali Panicker Assistant Professor HR gave vote of thanks to all the dignitaries, guests and Oakbrook family members for making the event a resounding success and a memorable event.
This was followed by a group photo session.
In 2nd half Post lunch, HR related game was organized namely “Seek A Story”, in which 15 teams of four students each took part. Teams were required to find rhyming words, use them in a story and narrate the same. They also had to dubsmash, Play dumb charades and draw a picture to guess the quote/ Phrase.
The event was concluded by giving certificates to the winning teams of the game by Dr. Sourabhi Chaturvedi. Certificates were also distributed to winners of Sports Day games. Letters of appreciation were given to all the volunteers of the event for the hard work done by them with complete devotion.
